Built on one principle

Batsumi is a Setswana word meaning “the hunters.” It was chosen deliberately. To hunt is to be purposeful, relentless, and precise. It means reading the terrain, moving with intent, and never returning empty-handed. Eighteen years ago, that word described exactly what building this business would require.

Batsumi Enterprise Solutions was founded in 2008 by Thokozani Gumede, a Black female entrepreneur who entered a market dominated by established players and built her way to the top of it, contract by contract, relationship by relationship. She went after government tenders, sat in briefing rooms where competitors said she would not succeed, and came out the other side with the contracts.

Built on one principle

Every client matters, regardless of the size of their order. A customer purchasing five boxes of consumables receives the same care, attention, and follow-through as one placing a multi-year machinery contract. That standard has never changed, and it never will.

Batsumi Enterprise Solutions is today a Level 1 BEE-compliant, ISO-certified business operating at the intersection of document security, specialised printing, and ongoing operational support. We work across three core solution areas: Shredding Solutions, Specialised Printing Solutions, and Exam Paper Production and Packaging Solutions.

We are not here to sell equipment from a catalogue. We are here to understand your operational environment, advise on the right solution for your specific needs, and remain present long after the sale through consumables supply and ongoing maintenance support.

We are building towards an Africa that is operationally self-sufficient.

Where we are going

Our vision extends well beyond South Africa’s borders. We are building towards an Africa that is operationally self-sufficient, where governments and institutions no longer send their most sensitive and critical work overseas when the capability to do it better, faster, and more securely exists right here on the continent.

We are building a business that will outlast its founders. Not as a monument, but as a living institution that continues to find the gaps, develops the people with the capacity to close them, and raises the standard of what African enterprise can deliver.

Our promise to you

We ensure that the organisations responsible for Africa’s most critical documents never face an operational failure they could have avoided.
